It is not all water down here, in fact other than the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean you will rarely find a drop anywhere else in all of the Baja. Los Cabos has the most beautiful desert landscape in the whole wide world, it is called the Sierra de la Laguna and is home to the UNESCO Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve. The Reserve was set up in 1994 and encompasses 11, 600 hectares of land full of endemic pristine natural habitat for flora and fauna.

Subtropical dry forests are considered to be one the most endangered of all tropical ecosystems. In Baja California Sur, the dry forests of Sierra de la Laguna are relatively intact, except for heavy grazing.
